Limited Edition

Japan-based, Fumiko Kuniga has been exploring using different materials for her art, in particular utilizing the special characteristics of lacquer, a material unique to Asia. She believes that being able to create art from materials born in the earth is a special gift given to humans. She was inspired by lacquer during primary school, when her mother took her to the Nanban Museum to see Nanban lacquerware. Winner of several prizes, Fumiko is always conceiving this natural but rare material into everyday objects.
