Kirsty Anne

London UK-based, Kirsty Anne is a botanical artist focusing on the intricate details and delicate forms of nature. With a passion for both painting and photography I create photographic works that have a feel of abstract and surreal paintings. Always wanting to capture and cherish moments and keen on anything artistic I naturally gravitated to photography as a child. As a teenager I decided to develop my skills by studying art and design and then opting for a degree in photographic arts. After my degree I honed my skills further, eventually moving into botanical photography due to my love of nature and the endless colours and forms that can be explored.

The photographic series ‘Petals and Pigments’ was created by submerging flowers in a water filled fish tank and then adding ink to create the ethereal feel to the images.

The series emphasises the fleeting beauty of flowers immortalising them in a moment somewhere between a photograph and painting. As with the flower the painting element of the image can only exist in one moment of time as once the ink mixes with the water it no longer exists in the same form.
